Alot of things may make you feel like you are getting older. Aches and pains, crows feet, sagging body parts...all your friends have kids that are graduating high school, or driving, or even talking back to them.
Not me, I still feel like a spring chicken for the most part...but one thing has really set me back.
My tooth.
I have had a tooth problem with one tooth in particular (last molar on top) for about 6+ years. My fear of the dentist kept me away, for years, and when I finally went because it was so painful, they had to take half of it off to clean it out (she actually said "dig it out") and reconstruct it due to a fracture beneath the gumline that let a lot of crap creep in there.
eeeeeuuuuwe!!
Then I had two root canals on it, (they couldn't find the third root, and I had to go back for another one after seeing a specialist, who did find my third root, because of course I was a "special case") and it still gets infected every other week, and causes me pain, and a disgusting taste in my mouth.
I'm sure this is why I'm still single. I probably have wicked halitosis......
The tooth itself doesn't hurt since the root canals, it's the jaw. She packed it, and sealed it as best she could, but told me after my umpteenth visit, that if I continue to have pain, I will have to have it pulled.
The time has come when I am having it pulled.
Nothing makes me feel older, than having a tooth pulled.
I have horrible visions of me at 70 with all my top teeth spaced out and horribly jacked up due to the missing tooth.
I have put up with the pain long enough. Finally today, I called for my last antibiotic script, and made the appointment to have it yanked. This brought on all sorts of old person fears.
Who has a tooth pulled at 36? When did 36 become the age you have a tooth pulled???
While it really does bother me to have a tooth taken out at such a young age (young!), mostly, I'm just irritated that I can't enjoy my wine or martini's this weekend because I'm on 2,000mg (yes!) of antibiotics a day until I see the dentist. That seems excessive!

I'm the big 3 5...
I'm 35 Today. So heres 35 mostly pointless things to say.
1. 35 isn't old. I remember thinking 35 was mature. But, well lets face it, I'm still a kid in a lot of ways. A kid that pays her bills, and lives on her own.
2. I'm logically half way thru my lifetime. But we wont go there.
3. We got a ginormous storm in NE Ohio. I don't remember a time when it more than dusted with snow before my birthday. This is a bunch of horse shit. According to Mark Johnson, the devil himself was outside waiting to pitch fork you if you left the house. We got like 3 inches. I hate weather people. And this guy.
4. I didn't get drunk for my birthday. I'm growing up!
5. I ate three peanut butter with reese cup cookies today a girl at work made. Stay tuned, it's still early.
6. I'm not working out for my birthday so I'll probably gain 5lbs from the eating in #5. That's how my body works for me. Not very well.
7. I'm pertty sure I have arthritis in my foot from my old running injury. Getting old sucks.
8. My desk at work is decorated with all hello kitty stuff cus shes awesome. Yes, I realize I'm 35. So is Hello Kitty so shut up.
9. A crackhead decided to stand at the end of my driveway today for no other reason than he is a crackhead, and shuffeled into the street when I just kept backing up at him. I heart the city.
10. I am thinking of cutting most of my hair off. I'm afraid though, so don't quote me.
11. I had a mouse in my broiler of my oven, and I just caught him Saturday. Poor little disease ridden guy.
12. I turned my heat up to 55, which is huge, because I'm a cheap ass who never has a gas bill over $100, or really even close.
13. My favorite Christmas music is the Muppets Christmas w/John Denver. I really wish they'd put the muppets back on TV. Not a remake. The real original muppets. Please, and thank you.
14. I'm in love with a stripper.
15. Just kidding, but I was singing that song, cus we rented the wrestler this weekend, and I was suprised that Marissa Tome took it all off for that movie
16. I don't feel good from eating too many cookies. And a bagel. And chip dip.
17. Someone should come to work and clean my desk for me. It's really bad, and I'm setting a bad example to the department.
18. It's almost christmas, and I bought three gifts. I suck.
19. When I say I'm the big 3-5 i feel like it should be followed with "Elizabeth, I'm comin to join ya honey" ala Fred Sanford. Even though, its not old.
20. I thought when I was in high school, that I'd be practically retired at 35.
21. When you are in high school you are a total freaking dumb ass, aren't you?
22. I really miss Lost. They don't make shows like that anymore. I miss how excited I use to get when it was on, and how I'd slow mo the tivo to see hidden clues. I feel like all TV hope is lost. Especially now that the Walking Dead is over.
23. I learned at my ripe young age, I'm a clencher.
24. Don't be gross, that means I clench my teeth too much, and the dentist had to file down my teeth and recommended a mouth guard. I have sore teeth, and no cracks, cavities, or decay. What the fuck?
25. Doesn't wearing a mouth guard sound pretty hot? I bet next, it'll be circulation socks, and granny panties or something.
26. Just like everyone looks at their poop in the toilet, I know everyone picks their nose.
27. P.S. do you ever get mad at a self flushing toilet, when you don't turn around fast enough to look at your poo and it's flushed down???!!!!
28. I get mad when I don't get to see the fruit of my labor. Dr. Oz says you have to evaluate your poo.
29. Why do boys' legs fall asleep on the toilet? It's like the 8th wonder of the world.
30. I sent my mom a picture of my poo recently, because she sent me a picture of gum in her mouth.
31. You may not know but I have a gum phobia, so she deserved a poop shot.
32. Just like boy babies, boy dogs have crappy clothes, so I think I'm going to just dress him up as a girl cus they have the cutest sweaters and stuff!
33. I feel sorry for people who have boys. Isn't that weird? Cus i totally like boys, so someone has to suffer through the trouble of having and raising them. Just dont ever let it be me. If the universe wants to screw me over and give me a kid despite my carefulness, it had better not be a boy.
34. I had to get an echeck for my car and you know how i have that stupid breathalizer on it? Too bad I didnt have to get a real echeck, cus they cant mess with my electronics boyeeeeeee!
35. Thats the only good thing thus far about having a DUI. and in the grand scheme of things, its totally not worth it.

Taste.....

So, would it be in poor taste to sell my American Music Awards Michael Jackson doll on ebay?
A mint condition in the box doll is up to $510 on ebay.
Mine has no box. No sunglasses, oh yea, and no pants.
He was my only "boy" barbie and he got around.
I could go on vacation on Michael. He owes me, because he never married me. I wanted to have his babies! Me!
Reason 456,785,234 not to have kids. Your baby daddy could up and die.
How sad!

Ow...
So I went to the dentist on Tuesday. I lived. As I am writing and breathing. I really didn't feel getting the shots, she numbed me, and then said she just had her fingers in my mouth. Then she said she was done. Huh?
Today I feel the shots. Ow.
I decided I'm the biggest investment I'll ever make. Some people say its a car, or a house. But, I'm more deserving of my money than any stupid house or car. So, I don't care if it cost more money to have my teeth look nice. I'm not putting crappy silver fillings in my mouth. I say crappy silver because as I've said, I can't stand metal in my mouth. If you have them its fine.
I opted to get resin fillings. Which she sealed, and she said I wouldn't have to go thru it again. This is what not going to the dentist for 16 years gets you. Modern technology. You can't even tell I have fillings. I have three on the right side now. And they don't get cold when I drink.
You know, I'm friends with my dentists Mom, so she kept stopping and telling me it looked like I was going to rip the arms off of her chair. After I found out I wouldn't be charged if I did, I kept holding on for dear life.
But it wasn't as horrible as I had imagined. I made them shoot me twice with novacain though. I told them I felt pain when they poked me. The assistant said, pressure or pain? I said I don't know, it feels pokey!!! Questions like that are hard to answer! I want to feel nothing, ok?
After my ordeal I got home at 4:30 and slept until 8. I was so stressed out. I go back in a week to have my last one done. Then it's time to start with the eye Dr. I don't like the eye Dr. either because they shoot you in the eye with air, and tell you not to blink 15 times when they do it until they finally get you right in the eyeball.
I really think I may have conquered my fear of the dentist. It's all in the mind. The mind is quite powerful.

Mental Dental...
So, sometimes bloggers inspire each other without knowing it. I was at work listening to coworkers talk about the dentist. For, like 2 hours. (why they weren't working, I dunno, they don't work for me) I kept thinking OMG, I'll end up losing my teeth too if I don't go to the stupid dentist. Root canal? Crowns? And abcesses.....oh MY! How long as it been you ask?
Six. Teen. Years.
I had a horrid experience at 17 which was, I had my wisdom teeth pulled while I was awake, and just had numbing shots. Until I talked to more and more people, I thought this was normal. I remember the blood gushing down my throat, him bracing my head against his stomach and pulling my tooth and hearing the crrrrruuuuuunch of my tooth being ripped from my head. I had to be re-xrayed during the procedure, blood all over myself. Nothing short of atrocious. I have since been traumatized, and refused to go to the dentist. I don't know how else to describe this. Except, did I mention the blood?
Since having my teeth pulled, I have had one tooth way in the back next to one of the wisdom's that were pulled, that didn't heal quite right, the gums never grew down my tooth. I'm pretty sure its half rotted away because it hurts like nobodies business, and I can feel a jagged edge at the top. Probably not good. Plus it sends pangs of torture through my body if anything food like touches it.
I realize no one enjoys the dentist. But...I am terrified. So, I'm all about being gassed. Who will gas me? I need drugs, I'm sweating now thinking about it!
So, I called the dentist. Me. I think I had an out of body experience because I was looking up the number, and dialing the phone in a matter of seconds. It occurred to me, that I use to work with a woman, who's daughter was going to dental school. This was a long time ago, and I remember she said that she had a practice the next town over from me. DUH! Then I read this blog about someone else terrified of the dentist, who is going SOONER THAN ME. (bless you) And before I know it I called the dentist.
Who answered the phone, but another person I use to work with, who is the dentists sister in law! Small world! So at least I have a friendly face before I am whisked away to the torture chair! I'm scared. To. Death. To have them cleaned. I don't want them to be touching my sore tooth, I know how they are! Poking around with their metal sticks. Have I told you I don't even like metal forks touching my lips. Bleh. I know they will touch my sore tooth! I'm also pretty sure all my bottom teeth are cracked. For serious!
I'm going to take a valium. It helped me fly. It can help me not be hysterical at the dentist! I need to put on my dream board, a happy person at the dentist! Dreams really do come true. Gulp.
Lost.
Anyone watch? What the hell? Miles' dad is Marvin Candle? Baby miles and grown up miles are in the same place? He was contracted to speak to the dead on the island by Naomi and Widmore? Hurley is writing the Empire Strikes Back before George Lucas does? That cracked me up.
