Enjoying Fall Before it Snows...With Mr. Magoo..

One of the best things about living in Northeast Ohio, is the arrival of Fall.

Not when it gets to be cold, and rainy fall...but that magical in-between time, when it's in the 50's, and sunny, and there is still beautiful color on the trees.

I got out to enjoy a long walk at the park, and take some photos.

I drive this route every day on my way home from the gym, and the trees are spectacular!

Mr. Magoo was on beaver watch at beaver marsh...they say otters play here in the summer, but I've never seen either...ever..(sad face)

 A few berries holding on

 The Cuyahoga River

Ducks! You have to look pretty close...

Just a couple flowers left on this bush

Mr. Magoo is so happy when he's walking!

 Gorgeous!

This farm grows the best sweet corn around!

The wind blowing through these "things" sounds amazing.

My purse is a great pillow for a tuckered out pooch

And, Mr. Magoo was finally given the "all clear" from the vet after his oral surgery, and his bleeding debacle. He can eat whatever he wants. And what he wants is to try to chew a rawhide with remaining 7 teeth.

Dog's Eye View

After my run in the rain on my last race, my phone has a mind of its own. Mostly, it takes random pictures. All. The. Time.

These are photos from Mr. Magoos view, as he is responsible for carrying my car keys, and my cell phone in his harness..I got some random dog shots from our last walk..

Those are my legs....

;
Oh, my legs again...

A view of the walking trail from a dog's perspective...

I think this is my shadow...

A dog's eye view of the park..

The ride home, Mr. Magoo is a happy pup!

Mr. Magoo has to lay on my lap after a park visit, maybe it is the blasting of A/C I have in my space, or because he loves me to pieces...
The world may never know. ..

Rescue Dog Days of Summer...

I live in Northeast Ohio. Once in a blue moon, the temperatures reach 90. It's rare. I don't remember the last time they have exceeded the 90's, let alone, for weeks on end, as they have been, and caused such distress on the inhabitants....dogs included!

This is Mr. Magoo's sad and pathetic "I'm bored" face...he thinks I'm terrible for not walking him, or taking him to the dog park in the hot weather, but he is a stumpy faced dog, he can't cool off in the heat...it's for his own good

So, as any good Mother would do, I finally went and got him a doggie pool. At first, he's not sure about it...what's this business?

Then, after a quick backyard chase session, he decided that it met his approval..."yes, this feels nice!!"

"Thanks for the pool Mom!!" (I got a kiss!)

From 4 years of life in a cage w/no human contact... to having his own doggie pool, and a human that thinks the sun rises and sets with his sweet face....Mr. Magoo hit the jackpot with my adopting him.. and as always, I am equally as lucky for having adopted him...

Later That Day....

Every time we "went outside" which usually means "potty"...we had to check out our pool..... I didn't have the heart to correct him. He lounged around in the pool, and then still did his business.

I'm just going to go through a lot more towels each week than I am accustomed to... it's totally worth it to see how happy he is walking around in that silly doggy pool!!

Kids...And by Kids, I mean the Four Legged Kind..

Mr. Magoo gives me his "bad eye" as I'm trying to read about Christian and Anastasia once again.

I kinda think that one day...there will be children in therapy, sighting neglect due to 50 shades of Grey.

Lucky for me, animals don't talk. (just one of a billion other reasons I prefer animals to human children, but to each their own!!!)

However, Mr. Magoo learned the fine art of being intrusive when I am otherwise engaged....from his cat siblings. When such a cute face comes between you and your book, you have to scratch the belly...right?

Since we are talking about animals....

Magoo sometimes likes to be held like a baby. Honestly..I make him let me hold him this way, but he doesn't object

Yet another adorable interspecies interaction...Mr. Magoo was licking his cat sister's head for a few minutes...

Fizzgig ate all the catnip, and it seems that Mr. Magoo somehow understood her frustration. I have the sweetest animals!

Spinsterhood...

A couple weekends ago when it was 90 degrees, I tried to run outside and made it 1 mile and had to turn back due to almost dying of heat exhaustion. So I decided to take the dog out to the water.

My Mr. Magoo has a short nose, and he overheats very easily. But he also gives me the stink-eye from the front door when he doesn't go out on a walk, or trip to the dog park.

So, I took him to the beautiful park metro park I am lucky enough to live near by, where I do my running, to see if he liked water...here was our destination.

Magoo decided that he did like the water after our mile hike to the water, and made himself at home. He loved it!

And he wanted to venture out further. It felt good for me to wade in the water also, but I kept losing my sandals in the sand, and having to chase them down the "river" while screaming "my saaaandals!"

Mr. Magoo has a majestic curly Q tail that he mostly drags on the ground when we are in public. It's like a broom. After swimming, and dragging that tail along the sandy trail back to the car, you can imagine I had the biggest mess to clean out of my tub after his bath. He gathered every stick, leaf, and sandy bit along the way!

I have not yet decided if it's 100% lame that the majority of my free time is spent at the gym (which I do have a gym buddy...), running, or going places with my dog.

I'm hoping that at least leaving my house on a regular basis will keep me from spinsterhood.

Cutest Dog Ever...

We take a break in our half marathon high, to make you smile with pictures of the cutest rescue dog in the world! I may have mentioned a few billion times how Mr. Magoo lived his first 4-5 years in a cage as a puppy mill "stud" and when he quit "performing" he was set to be destroyed.

I lucked out on this little gem at my local rescue. Rescued, and then twice adopted and returned for his shyness, and inability to "click" with his owners after only a few days, to a week. He is my "diamond in the "ruff"' because he is so adorably sweet and happy now, all he needed was patience, and love to be the dog he always wanted to be! You would never know he is as old as he is because he acts like a puppy!

Mr. Magoo, giving his "good eye", while sucking up the a/c in the car!

We are leaving the dog park, Mr. Magoo is exhausted.

From life in a cage to taking over our new couch...can you tell how hard his life is?

Mr. Magoo, certified Ford Fusion co-pilot. Slacking on the job, as usual.

Magoo learned how to ruin our new couch by laying on the back, from the cats.

Mr. Magoo is an honorary cat. Here he is participating in a snuggle with Persian siblings Fizzgig, and Pickachu.

Little do the cats know...Magoo destroys the paper towel rolls, and blames it on them..busted!

I call this "Let sleeping dogs lie"

Probably the cutest most peaceful thing is to catch your dog belly up, enjoying a good ray of sunshine, while snoring. (incidentally, he was in the path of the a/c fan, and the air purifier fan, so he was brilliant)

My short PSA. Adopt a dog in need. Mr. Magoo was abused and neglected for years, to bring the world "designer shih-poo's" to the pet store. You will never be sorry you took a chance on a "throwaway" dog.

Pictures, and a Thousand Words or Something

Here is Mr. Magoo before.

Here is Mr. Magoo at Gramma's, with his summer haircut, looking like a whole new dog. Of course since the recent drop in temperature, I had to put his sweater on to make up for having him shaved. This is the first time going this short with his coat, and I kinda miss his floppy hair, but he'll appreciate it come summer.

To make up for shaving all his poodle curls off, I got him a new lamb toy that you can see he loves.... Here he says "die, lambie...die!"...

After being shaved bald, my adorable cat society decided Mr. Magoo needed snuggles to stay warm. He totally thinks he is "one of the cats"....Who wouldn't want to be part of this snuggle society? My cats are awesome!

After leaving the gym last week, I had a note under my windshield wiper. I totally thought I got a random note from a secret admirerer at the gym, but turns out, my friends are just assholes!

I love Aladins! I could eat here every day and love every bite! This past weekend I branched out from the usual dawali, and hummus, and got a chicken salad with Tahini dressing. It was 99% romaine lettuce, with smidge of  "chicken salad" ,almonds, and alfalfa sprouts.... Turns out I love alfalfa sprouts!  My year of trying new things is proving quite beneficial!
